Our Mission

The Raymond Schools PTO is a 501(c)3 nonprofit parent teacher organization (PTO) whose mission is to support the education of children at Raymond Elementary School and Jordan Small Middle School by fostering relationships among the school, parents, and teachers.

The PTO raises funds for educational materials and experiences, offers opportunities for community gatherings and social interaction, and provides an inclusive forum for sharing information on issues that impact our children. It is our belief that the team effort of a parent teacher organization offers the best possible learning environment for our children.

We fund our programs through donations, fundraising & community grants.

Raymond Schools PTO Programs

"As part of their general music curriculum, students in Grades K through 4 study the instruments of the orchestra. Through the generosity of the Raymond PTO, we have funds to pay the admission fee for all the students in Grade 4 to attend a concert of the Portland Symphony Orchestra at Merrill Auditorium. This trip is always one of the highlights of their 4th Grade year."

"My favorite part of the concert was getting to see how the orchestra needs each other in order to make music.

"I learned that all the sections of the orchestra concert which were woodwinds were my favorite and also learned how the instruments made the sound and was connected into music and also what sounds the drums make that they use and was the woodwinds sections make also the other sections in the concert make. The experience was really fun. I loved it. I would go to another one again."

We believe field trips provide real world experiences within the rich learning 'laboratories' that the diverse State of Maine offers to our children. Access to these environments solidifies learning and supports important academic concepts. Studies support field trips as a way to build tolerance and empathy while building critical thinking skills. Field Trips and hands on learning make concepts more memorable, can bring one dimensional lessons to life and create enthusiasm for a subject that is hard to replicate in a classroom or on the internet.

We can enable greater success in college by providing backing for deserving students who want to graduate with their degree and give back to society. We believe the support that students receive from their own community instills a greater sense of belonging – and motivation – to make it through their higher education. We support our graduating Raymond students with pride as they continue their post graduate studies. Learn more about our scholarships here.

Community events provide a place for our families and community partners to come together and connect in a safe but fun way. Our events facilitate social opportunities in an inclusive manner and offers families and their children a space to engage as they feel comfortable. School-based activities promote student engagement, social interaction, creativity, physical activity and foster a sense of connection.
